YCC Chair Joey Mancino

Joey Mancino, hails from Hollister. He is a third-year Animal Science major with a focus on Pre Veterinary Medicine at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. There, he is a student herdsman for the school’s beef department on the Escuela Ranch.

Mancino grew up raising commercial cows and showing cattle in both 4-H and FFA. He looks forward to the opportunity to serve you, the YCC members, in the upcoming year. Mancino plans on visiting each college this year. He is ready for a great year and hopes you will contact him if you want to share any ideas on how to better the YCC and unite future ranchers across the state.

YCC Vice Chair Shelby Rosasco

Shelby Rosasco is from California State University, Fresno. Originally from Sonora, Rosasco is a junior at Fresno State majoring in Agricultural Education with an emphasis in Animal Science.

Rosasco is a fifth generation rancher who grew up on a cow-calf operation. She has held many leadership positions which will enable her to best serve YCC members. She is currently president of Fresno State’s Young Cattlemen’s Association.

As YCC Vice Chair, Rosasco hopes to improve individual organization involvement at the state level and increase awareness of the issues in agriculture among college students.

YCC Secretary Kelsey Marcus

Kelsey Markus is this year’s YCC Secretary. She attends California State University, Chico (Chico State) where she is earning her bachelor’s degree in Animal Science and a minor in Agricultural Business. Kelsey is also currently the vice president of Chico State’s Young Cattlemen’s Association as well as the treasurer of Chico State’s Alpha Zeta chapter. She is also a project leader for the local 4-H horse club at home.

Markus was born and raised in Murphys, which is a small town in Calaveras County where she grew up in 4-H and FFA and discovered her love of agriculture. Growing up, she was most active in the horse project but she also raised a steer her senior year through FFA.

While attending Chico State, Markus began to learn more about the cattle industry and it sparked a passion. She is very excited about the opportunity to begin her involvement in the cattle industry and cannot wait to represent the young cattlemen of this great state.

She plans on one day attending vet school and becoming a rural veterinarian. She is also currently the head resident herdsman at the UC Davis beef facilities on campus. For the past two years she has been the leader for the beef group for the Little International Stock show as well as the coordinator of various events for the UC Davis Field Day.

Sawyer grew up on a cattle ranch in a tiny town in Northern California called Bieber where she participated in 4-H, FFA and the California High School Rodeo Association. She looks forward to an exciting year at YCC and to meeting many current members.
