Kester and his wife, June, along with their three children, Kayleen, Kody and Kara own and operate a stocker and cow-calf operation, as well as farm grapes on their Monterey County ranch.
Kester is a graduate of California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Management. After his education, Kester returned to the family ranch.
In addition to being a CCA officer, Kester is currently the vice chairman of the CCA Cattle-PAC and serves on the Shandon School Board of Trustees. He is also past president of the San Luis Obispo County Cattlemen's Association, a past chair of the CCA Wildlife Management Committee, the California Mid-State Fair Heritage Foundation board of directors and the California Mid-State Agriculture Committee. Kester said he enjoys being involved with CCA simply because he likes giving his time to people who do what he loves to do.
“The beef industry has supported my family and our ranch since 1867,” Kester said. “I’m proud to be working with the state’s beef producers to give something back.”
Kester said one of his main goals for his terms is to improve coordination between the state level and the local membership level in order to increase awareness about major issues on the local level and garner more rancher support at the State Capitol.
