Event Description:
CBCIA Presents the 2014 "Your Future's at Stake" Tour
June 22-24, 2014

This year we will be touring the beautiful Intermountain Area of Shasta County. We will begin our tour at 9:00 am at the California State University, Chico Beef Unit on June 22nd. Dr. Dave Daley and the Young Cattlemen will provide a continental breakfast before our first stop at the world famous Kish Bucking Bull Ranch in Corning.

We will travel up Mt. Lassen to Hat Creek where we will have lunch at Rancheria RV Park with a fly fishing demonstration. From there we spend the afternoon at Bidwell Ranches learning of their cow/calf operation, trout farming and hydroelectricity. A social hour follows at our hotel with dinner at the Fall River Golf Course.

Day two (June 23rd) begins at the Prather Ranch with breakfast and enjoying the hospitality of the Rickerts’. They will talk of their wild rice farming, collagen development, cow/calf operation and strawberry nursery stock. We will then travel to the beautiful Burney Falls Park with a tour by the park ranger and a picnic lunch with more ranches and trout experiences to follow. The Fall River/Big Valley Cattlemens’ Association is hosting our dinner that evening at the Intermountain Fairgrounds.

Our third (June 24th) day begins with a continental breakfast of homemade cinnamon rolls delivered fresh to our motel and we will head down Highway 299 to Palo Cedro to Wootens’ Honeybee Farm. Shannon Wooten and his family breed Queen Bees (AI) and ship them around the world. We then travel to the Byrd Cattle Company and tour their registered Angus cattle operation and hosted lunch. We end our day at CSU Chico with a talk from Dr. Daley and discussion of the schools research projects.

This tour includes state of the art and innovative genetic practices in the cutting edge of agricultural production. A majority of the stops are contained breeding programs with limited public access. We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity.
