Chair Sara Jo Avila,raised on a cow/calf ranch in Tulare County, serves as the 2013 YCC Chair. Majoring in Agriculture Business and minoring in Animal Science at Chico State, Avila says she enjoys learning more about the agriculture industry and her number one goal this year as a state YCC officer is to begin YCA organizations at junior colleges.
Vice Chair Eric Frizzie, serves as the 2013 YCC Vice Chair. Majoring in Agriculture Science and Military science at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. After college Frizzie will serve in the United States Army and afterwards I plan on lobbying for the agriculture industry as a state and national politician. His goals for this year are to increase membership across the state and to help new chapters grow. He will strive to create more opportunities for our young members to advocate for our industry on campuses throughout the nation.
Secretary Trevor Airola, grew up in Calaveras County on his family’s cow/calf ranch and serves as the 2013 YCC Secretary. Majoring in Agriculture Science and Education at Chico State. Airola has had a strong passion for the beef cattle industry his whole life and spent many hours helping fellow local cattlemen during slow times on his family’s ranch as a kid. Although he sold his own cattle when he moved to Chico to begin his college career, Airola plans to return to his home town in Angel’s Camp after graduation to pursue a career as a high school animal science and agriculture mechanics instructor while also continuing his ranching responsibilities. His goal for this next year as a YCC officer is to inspire more active membership, as well as help members learn how to more effectively communicate with beef consumers to promote the beef industry.
Publicity Chair Katie Stroud, raised on cattle ranch in Modoc County. Stroud is currently a sophomore at Chico State majoring in Animal Science and a minor in Political Science. Stroud is currently serving on the 2013 National Beef Ambassador Team, she will be traveling, educating and promoting beef throughout the year. Ranching is a family tradition for Stroud and she has a deep passion and love for the beef industry.
