What is the Beef Improvement Federation (BIF)? BIF is our International/National association based out of Kansas State University, Kansas. Over 68 years ago, the true pioneers of the performance beef cattle movement began the research, which led to the use of objective measurements for evaluating beef cattle.

As a means to standardize programs and methodology and to create greater awareness, acceptance and usage of beef cattle performance concepts, the Beef Improvement Federation was formed. The organization's three-leaf clover logo would come to represent Industry, Extension and Research and to early pioneers of BIF, represented then, in the twilight of the 20th century. 2007 CBCIA Tour

In 2007, a rather unique tour carried us into the north central part of California covering the Highway 99 and Interstate 5 corridor through Yuba, Butte, Tehama, Shasta, and Siskiyou Counties on May 19-21, 2007. Over the 3-Day event, we accomplished the following:

- Departed from the University of California, Davis
- Toured Lodestar Farms Boutique Olive Oil Farm and Tasting Room, Oroville
- Toured the University Farm at California State University, Chico
- Ranch Tour and Dinner at Tehama Angus Ranch, Gerber
- Breakfast and Tour of Tom and Terry Bengard’s Ranch, Cottonwood
- Tour and Lunch at Shasta Dam on the Sacramento River, Redding
- Tour, Dinner, and Dancing at Little Shasta Ranch, Montague
- Tour Beef Cattle and Organic Strawberry Operations & Lunch at Prather Ranch, Macdoel
- Tour and Refreshments at Turtle Bay Exploration Park, Sun Dial Bridge, Redding
- Return to University of California, Davis

By all accounts, everyone had an excellent time. Unfortunately, CBCIA will not organize another tour until 2010 due to the other exciting events planned for 2008 and 2009.
