President Bruce Hafenfeld

California Cattlemen’s Association President Bruce Hafenfeld hails from Weldon. After serving in numerous positions with CCA and the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, Bruce was elected to his position at the annual CCA Convention in Sparks, Nev., in November 2006.

As president, Bruce guides the association in executing the policy direction set by the CCA members who represent a cross section of the state’s $1.6 billion beef cattle industry. In addition, he a CCA spokesperson who assists in connecting with industry members and allies at the local, state and national levels.

A cattle producer since 1975, Bruce currently owns and operates a family ranch in the Kern River Valley, raising commercial cows, calves and stockers on private property and on federal grazing allotment on the Sequoia National Forest. Along with their children, Jessica and Eric, Bruce and his wife Sylvia continue to be actively involved as fourth generation ranchers.

In addition to his experience with CCA and NCBA, Bruce has served as the president of the Kern County Cattlemen’s Association, a direction for the Kern County Farm Bureau, a member of the Kern County Fair Livestock Committee. He said it has been his goal in recent years to work to improve the California beef cattle industry by working with nontraditional partners and implementing progressive improvements to provide environmental and economic benefits to CCA.

“You can search the world over and not find ranchers as great as those in California,” Hafenfeld said. “We need to work to preserve that and give producers every chance to succeed.”
